Market sentiment yesterday was relatively mixed. For most of the day the risk aversion was felt in the face of the possible existence of a second wave of the coronavirus. However, afterwards the sentiment was reversed once the North American Federal Reserve (Fed)said that it will increase the size of the already announced program to purchase debt from highly rated North American companies.
The stock exchanges appreciated and in the United States, the Dow Jones index grew by 0.62 % while the S&P500 index appreciated by 0.83 % and the Nasdaq index rose by 1.43 %. In the Eurozone, its benchmark index - Stoxx 600 - closed in the red at 0.55 %.
In the debt market, yields ended up falling, having prevailed in the first half of the day, which was one of risk aversion.
Oil prices recovered their opening falls caused by fears over demand and the spread of Covid-19 in the U.S.
Gold was mixed yesterday - respecting its normal correlation with market sentiment.
